Clever sanitary electronics saves water
Economical taps, toilets, urinals or showers are slowly starting to settle in common households next to public areas. Together with purchase of such equipment comes with financial savings, even if the initial investment is somewhat higher.
One person consumes up to 50% of the daily water consumption, including hand washing, teeth cleaning or showering. Then the hands he washes at least 12 times a day, with one washing takes about 10 seconds. The four-members family consumes 144 litres of water per day with classic lever mixer, while with economical automatic mixer the consumption is up to eight times less. As far as showering is concerned, both women and men take a shower on average once a day, for about 5 minutes. So, if every member of the four-member family will take a shower once a day, the water consumption will be 288 litres with a classic lever mixer. For comparisons in the shower with an economical automatic mixer, it passes up to three times less water. The economical mixer in the shower is also practical, because during the shower is consumed considerably more expensive hot water.
A significant share of water consumption also has flushing of the toilet. The toilet man visits average 7 times per day. Water consumption also depends on the type of flushing device. „Last year's sales of economical tanks for hanging toilets increased by about 25%, and statistics for the last half-year talk about an ever-increasing trend,“ says Radomír Ambrož.
Let's take the example of daily water consumption for a four-member family, once it is equipped with one toilet. The daily water consumption of a single toilet is 252 litres with a classic flushing unit, and when it is invested in a toilet with the automatic flushing unit on two flushing times, the consumption will be 140 litres less. For a further comparison, the toilet with a classic flushing unit consumes 9 litres of water for one flush, a toilet with a two-time sensor that is even a little more economical than a two-button toilet, then consumes an average of only 4 litres. The electronics can focus on the time spent on the toilet and decides accordingly whether to make a shorter or longer flush. "The water saving when investing in such a toilet is therefore more than noticeable. If you would start using a radar flush urinal in a household where there are more men, whose water consumption per flush is just a litre, the savings would be even higher. In addition, the permanent home theme of the lifted-up cover seat will disappear, "adds Radomír Ambrož.
Water consumption is also evident in the kitchen, where most of the water is used for dishwashing. It is therefore generally recommended to use a dishwasher that is noticeably more economical, because hand washing dishes under running water in 10 minutes protects 200 litres of water. In cooking, an average of 6 litres of water is calculated per person per day.
However, if we only count for hand washing, showering and use of the toilet, then daily water savings are at least 447 litres. Whether you choose to invest in economical washbasin mixers, showers or toilets flushing units, you can save 270 to 310 EUR on each of these devices with a return in two years.
